Stadium Hire

Ken Kay Ballarat Badminton Stadium is one of Ballarat’s most iconic and largest indoor sporting facilities and is available for hiring. The stadium offers a wide range of features and facilities, making it ideal for any event of any size. Some of the resent events hosted at Ken Kay Ballarat Badminton Stadium have included the Great Outdoors Expo, Ballarat Antique Fair, Ballarat Indoor Bias Bowls Tournament, roller derby competitions, and school sporting events.

Ken Kay Ballarat Badminton Stadium has several side entrances including a large roller door and ramp for vehicle access via the main carpark. The roller door is large enough for cars, vans and small utility trucks to enter the stadium freely. This door opens up directly into the main arena section of the stadium and can be easily used as an open entrance for large crowds to pass in and out freely.

Inside the stadium are several multipurpose rooms of various sizes located on the ground and first floor. On the ground floor is the front entrance booth/office that is perfect for on the day ticket sales and event enquires.

Ken Kay Ballarat Badminton Stadium is a large 2720sq/m sporting arena with private car parking facilities. The main entrance features a wheelchair accessible ramp and glass double doors leading to a small foyer with connecting entrance booth/office. The room is perfect for use as a cloak room, info kiosk, meeting room, or ticket booth. From there, visitors can proceed further into the complex via the main arena.

The inside of the stadium is split into two levels, both overlooking the main arena floor. On the ground floor is the Front entrance booth/office, canteen facilities (open for tender), and meeting room that can double as a creche facility if needed.

Upstairs is the main function room featuring glass windows and balcony that overlook the arena floor. This part of the stadium also features a private meeting room with bar and the stadium kitchen/function facilities.

Toilet facilities including separate accessible toilet are located on both floors of the stadium.

The Ballarat Badminton Association actively encourages local Ballarat schools to include the sport of badminton as part of their school sport programs. Ken Kay Ballarat Badminton Stadium is available for school court hire at a special discounted rate. This makes using the stadium and equipment much more affordable for schools interested in making badminton part of their curriculum.

The school court hire program includes discounted court hire, use of the facilities, equipment hires and setup, and hands on coaching from qualified staff and champion badminton players. Students involved in the program have often gone onto develop their skills to higher levels and compete in interschool competitions. Many of these students have then won awards and been recognised for their skills both for themselves and their schools.

Courts/equipment - $8.80 per court per hour or $2.20 per student

The Ballarat Badminton Stadium is available for casual court hire at various times throughout the week. 

Casual Court Hire Rates: $9 per person for non-members and $5 per person for members. Casual hire rates include use of hire rackets and plastic shuttles. Feather shuttles can be purchased from the stadium pro shop.
